Two distinctions at Great Taste Awards 2021 received Apostolos Papadopoulos Meat Company for pastirma and pork rib chop with bone smoked.
This is the second time that the company has participated in the event and received distinctions, after thracian kavourma which won distinction at the same event in 2019.
Great Taste Awards have been organized for several years in the United Kingdom by The Guild of Fine Food. Great Taste Awards are internationally recognized for their objectivity and validity, as they evaluate exclusively the taste of the products, without reference to their packaging or branding. They are even considered like the Michelin stars of the awarded restaurants.
In the 2021 event, more than 355 expert judges evaluated the products through a blind tasting process. For 180 days, from March to the end of August 2021, more than 14,000 products from 120 countries around the world were tasted to finally award the awards, gold stars, which contribute to the international recognition of the products.
Pastirma has been produced for many decades by Apostolos Papadopoulos Meat Company, based on the traditional recipe of the East, from selected beef leg, which is “processed” with salt, dried naturally, covered with the fenugreek and spice mixture, known as tsimeni, and matured naturally.
Correspondingly, the smoked pork rib chop with bone is produced from 100% Greek meat, smoked in beech wood and is one of the company’s products, which, after the relevant certification, hold the ELLA-DIKA MAS sign.
